"We’ve been working with PKF Texas on our taxes since day one, roughly 10 years ago. Of course, no one wants to do taxes, so that was an easy win. They are the only people we trust with our taxes and any hard bookkeeping questions.

About two years ago, our CFO transitioned out of our company, so we called PKF Texas. We were way behind on a ton of bookkeeping and didn’t have the resources internally to get it going the way we needed to. You can’t drive anywhere if your windshield is dirty, and our books weren’t clean, so we couldn’t really make informed managerial decisions. PKF Texas did a fantastic job of restructuring our bookkeeping processes and helped us find an accounting manager. They helped us throughout the interview process and also trained her, which was hours a week of one-on-one mentorship. PKF Texas parachuted in James Bond-style and got us out of the most complex pickle we’ve been in during the past 10 years. It was awesome! It was like having a second co-founder in the cockpit, driving as hard as they could to correct our course.

PKF Texas set up all of our cash flow processes and a chart of accounts, which we re-did as we added a business unit on the hospitality side. All of the training and controls and high-level, strategic decisions that you have to make to keep your financial planning and analysis on track, PKF Texas did a phenomenal job of really systematizing it. We shouldn’t be inventing these wheels when someone else already knows how to do it.

Having that steady hand, gravitas and expertise is huge. All of the government assistance programs that were introduced during COVID-19? PKF Texas helped guide us through them. Mention PKF Texas with our bank’s president and that changes the conversation. They know who PKF Texas is and that they are running things in a clean manner. They have done everything they possibly can to understand our business inside and out. They know our business better than we do sometimes. That means they give personal advice that is only good for us and exceptionally perfect.

They are business partners that present proactive and thoughtful answers. They listen first, then speak, and they do so with credibility, experience with coaching arguments.

They’ve got all the capabilities, critical mass and economies of scale to do the big stuff, and they can figure everything out, but they’re not so big you get lost in the mix. It’s a really hard position to nail but they do it quite well." -Rassul Zarinfar, Founder and Chief Executive Officer
