PKF Texas Chief Culture Officer Recognized by Houston Business Journal

HOUSTON – September 11, 2018 – Pannell Kerr Forster of Texas, P.C. (PKF Texas) is pleased to announce Sonia Freeman, CPA, Chief Culture Officer and Audit Director, is an honoree in the financial category of the Houston Business Journal’s “Women Who Mean Business” Awards.

This year, the Houston Business Journal received over 200 nominations, and the judges selected 56 women, including 12 “Women to Watch,” based on the criteria of career achievement, contribution to company and city success, community involvement and leadership.

“We are honored Sonia has been recognized as a Woman Who Means Business,” said Byron Hebert, CPA, CTP, Chief Growth Officer. “She continues to play an integral role in our firm, as well as the accounting profession.”

Sonia has carved a path within PKF Texas for others who seek to have a life-long career in the public accounting industry. She is the first woman shareholder of the firm, as well as the first woman practice leader and the first woman member of the firm’s management committee. Continuing to set herself apart in the industry, in January 2018, she was voted unanimously by her fellow shareholders to become the firm’s first Chief Culture Officer.

On October 18, 2018, Freeman will receive the award, alongside the other honorees, at the Hilton Americas-Houston, which will be followed by a special edition of the HBJ weekly edition to recognize all honorees on October 19.
