Karen: This is the PKF Texas, The Entrepreneurs Playbook, and I’m Karen Love. I’m the co-host and founder here, and today we have Laura Nelson, a project manager with a company called Content Active, and we’d like to welcome Laura to the playbook. Hi, Laura.

Laura: Thank you, Karen. Hi, I’m so glad to be here.

Karen: Thank you for joining us. And what I wanted to talk to you about is because I’ve been seeing all of your blogging and things you’ve been doing with your photos. And I know that you’re a photographer and have always been blogging previously when you were in school. So tell us how that transition has happened between what you were doing in photography, how you’re using that in Content Active with being a project manager.

Laura: Yeah, absolutely. Well, about a year ago, I was working I guess you could say full time as a freelance photographer and as a blogger. And an opportunity came up for me to be a project manager at Content Active, which is the leading web design and development company in Houston, Texas.

Karen: Of course.

Laura: Of course. And it was obviously a job that I couldn’t turn down, but there were many concerns, I think, within my immediate friends and family that what was I going to do. You know, I’m an artist. Was I just going to wither away and die if I was working in project management for 40 hours a week? And I was the one who really championed the idea. I really wanted to do it, and I felt very strongly about putting my skills to use in project management, and making them a valuable asset to my company. And that’s certainly been what’s happened since I joined Content Active. We now offer custom photography and website content creation to our clients.

Karen: Using _____.

Laura: And yeah, I mean it’s really just been amazing. I enjoy every aspect of my job, and that’s one of my favorite ones.

Karen: Well, I love it. I know they love your energy and enthusiasm. We have some synergy going there because we also are in the process of changing our blog into a new blog called The CPA Desk. And I know that you’ve changed from your previous one to the –

Laura: I have. Now I blog for TheLightFiles.com, which is my new web platform. I was blogging about yoga in Boston when I was living in Boston and expanded a little bit on that. So if you want to check out what I’m writing now, you can check out TheLightFiles.com.

Karen: Fantastic. Well thank you. And I hope you’ll come back and talk a little bit more about that later.

Laura: Of course. Thanks, Karen.

Karen: This has been another thought leader production brought to you by PKF Texas Entrepreneurs Playbook. Tune in next week for another chapter.
