As companies begin to hire again, there are a dearth of qualified candidates to fill a given position.  How does your company quantify the interview process?  Are you adding a numeric weight to the questions you ask?  While selecting a new employee to some extent relies on gut instinct, adding a numeric component will assist you when comparing qualified candidates.

Here are some general criteria to consider when creating your scale:
• Ability to handle pressure
• Supervisory experience
• Communication skills
• Long term potential
• Presentation
• Industry experience
• Maturity
• Lateral thinking
• Personality
• Qualifications

These criteria can and should be changed to meet your company’s needs.

Quantifying your criteria also assists when a candidate interviews with more than one member of your team.  As the economic outlook improves, the people you add to your team are critical to your company’s growth.  You want to be sure you hire the right candidate!
