Competition in the smart-phone industry has led to the rise of a new medium for companies to communicate and stay connected with interested customers: mobile marketing. This new communication channel is quickly evolving and is expected to make a huge impact on consumers in the future, just as social media “boom” has expanded and evolved in recent years past.

One aspect that sets this form of marketing apart from others is that it is initiated by the consumer, which means they must first give their consent to receive future messages. This is especially useful in helping companies identify their target market and develop a lasting relationship with those interested in receiving your messages.

There are many ways to get your message across: SMS, MMS, Mobile Web, Applications and Mobile Advertising. However, the vast potential of mobile marketing has yet to be discovered, and there is no doubt it will have a huge impact on the way businesses interact with customers, because mobile devices can be taken anywhere and are always connected!

Just as technology and innovation go hand-in-hand, the increased emphasis on this type of marketing will be prevalent now and into the future. There are a host of online resources, CMO.com, the Mobile Marketing Association and even Kodak offer whitepapers on trends in mobile marketing.
