The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) is the national professional organization for Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) in the United States.
The Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) is a nonprofit, voluntary, professional organization representing Texas CPAs in public practice, business & industry, government and education.
The Houston CPA Society, a Society of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, was organized in 1928 for the purpose of networking and social interaction. In the 1940s, the Society began offering continuing education for its members. Since then the organization has become a permanent source of continuing education as well as a professional network for CPAs, not only in Houston, but throughout Texas.
The Center for Audit Quality (CAQ) is dedicated to enhancing investor confidence and public trust in the global capital markets by fostering high quality performance by public company auditors; convening and collaborating with other stakeholders to advance the discussion of critical issues requiring action and intervention; and advocating policies and standards that promote public company auditors’ objectivity, effectiveness and responsiveness to dynamic market conditions.
To help CPAs meet the challenges of performing quality audits in this unique and complex area, the AICPA has established the Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center, a firm-based voluntary membership center for firms that audit employee benefit plans.
The AICPA Not-for-Profit Section supports not-for-profits (NFPs) and the professionals who serve NFPs. The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) is a nonprofit corporation established by Congress to oversee the audits of public companies in order to protect investors and the public interest by promoting informative, accurate, and independent audit reports. The PCAOB also oversees the audits of brokers and dealers, including compliance reports filed pursuant to federal securities laws, to promote investor protection.
