Why did you choose to be a CPA and/or advisor?
I think the certification is essential for anyone working in public accounting, and it was a necessary step in advancing my career.
What do you like best about helping clients?
I enjoy helping clients solve complex problems which require critical thinking and the ability to think outside the box to resolve accounting or internal control issues within their organization.
What energizes you about your job?
I am most energetic when I am working in forensic accounting or litigation. I think that energy comes from the thrill of the chase during an investigation and the chess game which ensues during litigation.
What energizes you about working at PKF Texas?
I value the opportunity to learn new skills, continue to maintain a healthy work-life balance and contribute my past experience and knowledge to help the firm continue to grow.
Why are you passionate about serving this niche?
Litigation, forensic accounting and advisory services offer the opportunity to work across a multitude of industries and practice areas within the accounting profession.
Where are you from?
I was raised in College Station, Texas.
What do you do in your spare time?
Martial arts, competitive shooting (IDPA, USPSA, 3-Gun), violin, camping, hiking/backpacking, sewing
What's your favorite season?
Winter
What's your favorite sport to follow?
I am not a huge fan of watching any sport. I would rather be actively involved in physical activity myself.
Do you own any pets?
We have three: Shih Tzu, a ball python, a 180-gallon aquarium with South American cichlids and a leopard gecko.
Favorite color(s)
Imperial purple
What kind of music do you like?
I enjoy Heavy Metal, Rock, Grunge, Punk, Rap, R&B, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Baltic and Classical, to name a few genres.
What is your favorite book/author? Or What are you reading right now?
I usually read books on history or on specific content areas as opposed to following a specific author. When I was younger, I loved to read Stephen King.
What's your favorite vacation destination?
I enjoy being anywhere outdoors but most frequently spend time at my family's land.
Favorite movie?
Either the Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings series.
Who was/is the most influential person in your life?
My parents, church leaders during my youth and my Scout Master.
What is your most-prized possession?
If this means a material possession, my primary violin.
What's something cool we don't know about you?
I have completed formal teacher training for Books 1-4 in the Suzuki method for teaching violin. I have not taken a student base yet but am technically a registered violin teacher and was also a performer at the Texas Renaissance Festival for three years playing violin.
